Skillhive is primarily targeted for medium and large sized businesses and organizations where cooperation and the sharing of expertise is vital. Especially business that operate in environments that are complex, change fast, require high levels of expertise and are geographically scattered can use Skillhive to connect and share expertise.

Solving problems, ideas and projects requires a vast amount of expertise and cooperation between experts. How does Skillhive differ from alternative solutions?
Typically these kind of solutions for mapping, managing and sharing expertise are stiff and bureaucratic. This is because the solutions are designed for management purposes not for the employees. Skillhive is a user-friendly and visually motivating application meant for the whole organization. Skillhive enables everyone to share ideas, problems or projects and creates a “swarm” of experts to work on it.
Skillhive does not compete with Sharepoint or other intranet systems and it can be fully integrated into existing intranet systems.
Integration to other software?
Skillhive uses advanced application programming interfaces (API) which enable organizations to integrate their existing HR or intranet systems with Skillhive smoothly and without any lengthy IT-projects.
Identity management can be easily integrated to your existing Active Directory (LDAP/AD). Therefore users do not have to remember separate usernames or passwords. They can simply use the same login information as in the other systems the organization utilizes. AD/LDAP integration also enables automated user management which means that Skillhive users can be created, updated and deleted automatically. Also personal information (name, department, location, email) can be retrieved from the LDAP/AD server, therefore users do not have to fill in the same information repeatedly. This also speeds up the implementation phase and facilitates the usage.
In addition to the identity management integration we have implemented different Single Sign-On (SSO) methods. With SSO users do not have to input their passwords or usernames to login to Skillhive. The user only has to login to the organization’s intranet or other similar system.
Skillhive’s interfaces enable the transfer of any information to other systems. For example all the information on Skillhive´s user profiles (skills, interests, achievements) can be transferred into other existing systems. Organization´s search engines (intranet, etc.) can also be integrated with Skillhive making it possible to do searches in Skillhive using the organization’s intranet.

Data security & technology
Skillhive is provided as a fully exclusive SAAS (on-demand software) service, which means that the software and associated data are centrally hosted on the cloud. Intunex is responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting the service. The application is web browser based and works on all operating systems and is supported by most browsers. The application has been built on Apache, MySQL and PHP – technologies. Skillhive uses the newest and most efficient protocols and its servers are maintained on officially certified secure locations.
